This is a dated reference, but do you remember those old cartoons like Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner? Every once in a while, Wile E. Coyote would run off a cliff without realizing it. But he didn’t fall until he realized it, to add to the comedy of it, and that was funny.
But that’s like us sometimes too. We don’t realize we’ve run off a cliff or have even gotten close to a cliff until it’s too late.
